Teck and Anglo American receive Government of Canada approval for merger of equals under Investment Canada Act

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — December 15, 2025 — Leads & Copy —

Teck Resources Limited and Anglo American plc have received Canadian regulatory approval for their merger, announced Sept. 9, 2025, under the Investment Canada Act (ICA). The merger will form Anglo Teck, a global critical minerals company headquartered in Canada.

Anglo Teck will invest at least C$4.5 billion in Canada within 5 years, totaling at least C$10 billion over 15 years. This includes the Highland Valley Copper mine life extension, enhancing critical minerals processing at Trail, and advancing the Galore Creek and Schaft Creek copper projects.

Teck President and CEO Jonathan Price said the approval is an important step forward in creating a global critical minerals leader. Anglo American CEO Duncan Wanblad added that the approval marks progress toward forming a major global critical minerals powerhouse.

Shareholders from both companies approved the merger on Dec. 9, 2025. The merger is subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals. Once complete, Anglo Teck will have its headquarters in Vancouver, with primary listing on the LSE, and listings on the JSE, TSX and NYSE.
