ScotiaGold Passport Visa cardholders can now use the card on the Casa platform to pay rent or condo fees without transaction fees and earn Scene+ points.
Cardholders earn 1 Scene+ point for every dollar spent on everyday purchases. Those who spend at least $350 monthly also earn 1 Scene+ point for every dollar spent on housing payments made through Casa.
Scene+ has over 15 million members and allows them to earn and redeem points in various ways, including travel, groceries, dining, gas, entertainment, and housing payments.
Casa CEO Brandon Koffler said the company is on a mission to make rent more rewarding. He said the collaboration with Scotiabank introduces a new way to make housing payments with no transaction fees.
Casa was developed with residential owners and operators, including FirstService Residential, Westdale Properties, Signet Group, Deveraux Apartment Communities, and Fengate. The Casa Community represents over 500,000 apartment and condominium units across Canada.
The platform is also available to households beyond the Casa Community, enabling residents across Canada to pay rent or condo fees and earn rewards, even in buildings that do not accept credit cards.
While Casa supports payments made using other Canadian Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cards, a standard transaction fee applies to cards other than the ScotiaGold Passport Visa Card.
According to Aris Bogdaneris, Group Head, Canadian Banking at Scotiabank, the ScotiaGold Passport Visa Card is the first credit card in Canada to offer no transaction fees on rent and housing payments when made via the Casa platform.
Beyond rewards, Casa helps residential owners, operators, and property managers simplify rent and condo fee collection, streamline reconciliation, and reduce administrative workflow. They can also use the Casa platform to offer rewards and incentives, including Scene+ points, to encourage resident behaviors, modernize the resident experience, and strengthen long-term relationships.
