Vancouver, BC — January 15, 2026 — Leads & Copy — PyroDelta Energy Inc., a majority-owned subsidiary of First Tellurium Corp., has joined the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) DARPA Lift Challenge. The US$6.5 million competition seeks innovative drone designs that can carry payloads exceeding their own weight.
DARPA aims to revolutionize drone usage across sectors like defense, agriculture, and logistics. PyroDelta Head Engineer Michael Abdelmaseh expressed confidence in meeting the challenge’s requirements. The company plans to combine thermoelectric technology with a revolutionary design to achieve a high payload-to-weight ratio.
Abdelmaseh, a Certified Remote Pilot, will pilot PyroDelta’s drone in the competition, scheduled for the summer of 2026. The competition’s date and location are expected to be announced later this year. First Tellurium President and CEO Tyrone Docherty voiced his support for PyroDelta’s advancements and competitiveness in the challenge.
