VANCOUVER, BC — February 16, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. and its subsidiary, Pebble Limited Partnership, have provided an update on the court-mandated timelines for litigation pending in the Federal District Court in Alaska.
The plaintiffs, including the State of Alaska, Pebble Partnership, Iliamna Natives Ltd., and Alaska Peninsula Corp., submitted their summary judgement briefs on October 3, 2025. The Department of Justice is required to file its brief by February 17, 2026. The plaintiffs must then file their final briefs by April 15, 2026.
Northern Dynasty President and CEO Ron Thiessen stated that the current administration has repeatedly expressed its commitment to removing permitting barriers for oil and gas, pipeline, and mining projects in America. He characterized the Obama-Biden era veto on mining activity at one of the world’s largest undeveloped deposits of copper, gold, molybdenum, silver, and rhenium in Alaska as a significant permitting obstruction.
Thiessen also cautioned that allowing the veto to stand could establish a precedent, enabling future administrations to halt or reverse progress in responsible natural resource permitting.
The company’s preferred outcome is a settlement that withdraws the veto and dismisses the case. However, Northern Dynasty plans to continue pursuing litigation aggressively. The company will review the EPA’s February 17 filing and respond accordingly.
