Vancouver, British Columbia — January 8, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Gold Basin Resources Corporation is urging shareholders to reject a hostile takeover bid by Canex Metals Inc., asserting that the offer undervalues the Gold Basin Project. The company plans to resume trading and aims for a rapid revaluation through the release of a Maiden Resource Estimate in early 2026.
The Gold Basin Project in Arizona, boasting significant, shallow oxide gold mineralization spanning over 7km, is a key asset for the company.
Gold Basin’s board has rejected the Canex Metals Inc. takeover bid, deeming that Canex’s mineral tenements hold meagre economic potential, and adding no significant mineral resources or economies of scale if combined with the Gold Basin Project. The company’s technical team has dismissed the offer, and the largest shareholders of Gold Basin have committed to rejecting the offer.
Gold Basin Resources encourages investors to contact the Company to assert their continuing commitment and revoke any support for the Canex offer.
The company’s strategy to maximize asset potential includes:
(1) Delivering a Maiden Resource in early 2026, providing a fundamental, asset-based revaluation of the Company.
(2) Significantly expanding that Maiden Resource with new drilling campaigns that primarily focus on extensional drilling that adds economically viable ounces quickly.
(3) Delivering a preliminary economic assessment on the project.
Gold Basin’s Board are concurrently working to ensure that trading resumes as soon as practicable.
ASX-listed Helix Resources, Gold Basin’s partner in the Gold Basin project, has engaged an independent mining consultancy to deliver a Maiden Resource estimate for the Cyclopic and Stealth Deposits in early 2026. Work began in December 2025 and has resumed following the holiday break.
Andrew Mendelawitz has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director, adding his support to the revised strategy and the rejection of the hostile Canex bid. Two of the Company’s three Directors are now independent.
Mr. Mendelawitz previously managed investor relations and communications for the company over three years. Shareholders can contact Mr. Mendelawitz to pledge their support via:
