Blue Moon Metals (TSXV:MOON) Acquires Apex Germanium and Gallium Mine from Teck

TORONTO, ON — March 2, 2026 — Leads & Copy —

Blue Moon Metals Inc. has announced an agreement for Teck American Incorporated, a subsidiary of Teck Resources Limited, to vend 100% of the Apex germanium (Ge), gallium (Ga), and copper (Cu) mine in Utah to Blue Moon. This transaction aims to establish a secure North American supply of critical minerals, adding to Blue Moon’s existing relationship with shareholder Hartree Partners LP.

The agreement allows Blue Moon to process zinc concentrates from its Blue Moon Mine in California at Teck’s Trail Operations, creating an integrated North American value chain. It also paves the way for redeveloping the Apex mine for Ge and Ga production and potentially restarting the Springer tungsten mine in Nevada to meet U.S. domestic needs. Furthermore, it allows for the redevelopment of the Springer complex into a critical mineral processing hub to support the Blue Moon Mine and other mines in the Western U.S.

Blue Moon’s CEO, Christian Kargl-Simard, noted that underground development at the Blue Moon Mine is progressing. The acquisition of the Apex Mine and redevelopment of the Springer complex will provide a platform for U.S. critical metals growth. He added that combining Blue Moon’s U.S. project pipeline and processing capacity with Teck’s Trail Operations will help advance copper, zinc, tungsten, germanium, and gallium projects.

Ian Anderson, Teck Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, stated that the transaction builds on previous investments to rebuild zinc, lead, and silver capacity in Idaho’s Silver Valley. Teck looks forward to working with Blue Moon to develop new U.S. sources of critical minerals and explore ways to strengthen North American supply chains.

The Blue Moon zinc-copper-gold-silver project in California, originally mined by Hecla Mining Company, has been under review by Blue Moon’s management since November 2024. A NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate and preliminary economic assessment were published in March 2025, supporting a potential mine restart. Permits were received in April 2025, and construction of an exploration decline began in October 2025. Production is forecasted to begin in 2028.

The Apex mine in Utah, previously mined for copper oxide and later for Ge and Ga, was a primary producer of gallium and germanium in the U.S. Historical data indicates potential for high-grade Ge and Ga deposits. Blue Moon plans to expedite technical studies, metallurgical testing, permitting, and community engagement to support a final investment decision, subject to renewed permits.

The Springer property in Nevada, a former tungsten production facility, includes a 1,360-ft vertical shaft, a 1,200 ton per day mill, water rights, and permits. Blue Moon purchased the site in February 2026 to process material from the Blue Moon Mine and establish a regional processing hub. The company is advancing analysis and engineering to process the Blue Moon Mine material, including updating permitting requirements.

Blue Moon is acquiring 100% of the Apex mine, consisting of 26 patented and 9 unpatented claims, for 7,031,959 common shares representing 8.0% of Blue Moon’s issued shares, a 0.5% net smelter returns royalty, life of mine zinc concentrate offtake rights, marketing rights, and investor rights.

The transaction is subject to TSXV approval, definitive agreements, and other customary conditions. A purchase and sale agreement has been executed, with completion expected in March. No finders fees are being paid.

Blue Moon is advancing four brownfield polymetallic projects, including projects in Norway and the United States. Major shareholders include Oaktree Capital Management, Hartree Partners LP, Wheaton Precious Metals, Altius Minerals Corporation, Baker Steel Resources Trust, LNS and Monial.
