December 17, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Bausch + Lomb Corporation (NYSE/TSX: BLCO) has appointed Eduardo C. Alfonso, MD, and Steven H. Collis to its board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 2026.
The appointments, announced today, will bring the board to 10 directors, following changes announced in August 2025.
Brent Saunders, chairman and CEO of Bausch + Lomb, said that Dr. Alfonso is a prominent ophthalmologist, and Mr. Collis delivered financial growth as the CEO of a Fortune 10 company.
Saunders added that their insight will help shape the future of Bausch + Lomb as the company accelerates its strategy and pursues opportunities.
Dr. Alfonso is an expert in corneal and external eye diseases. He is the director of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and holds the Kathleen and Stanley J. Glaser Chair in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Alfonso earned degrees from Yale University and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, followed by fellowships at Harvard Medical School. He joined the Bascom Palmer faculty in 1986 and became a tenured professor in 1998. Since 2007, he has led the institute.
He is known for his research and clinical expertise in corneal infections, transplants, and keratoprosthesis, and has authored scientific publications and received awards from ophthalmology organizations.
Mr. Collis is known for his leadership of Cencora, Inc. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the Witwatersrand and joined the company that would become Cencora in the mid-1990s, building its specialty pharmaceuticals business and rising through executive roles.
He was President and CEO from 2011 through 2024, during which time the company’s annual revenue more than tripled and its global presence expanded through acquisitions and partnerships. Under his leadership, the company rebranded from AmerisourceBergen to Cencora in 2023. Collis then transitioned to Executive Chairman of the Board, continuing to influence company strategy until he stepped down in late 2025.
Collis currently serves on the board of Elevance Health.
